This original ink on paper drawing, is part of my ongoing ‘Sculptural Drawings’ body of work. They are executed with what has been described gestural line work and dense layered hatching. This piece constructs a commanding three dimensional presence through raw energetic mark making. A figure emerges in a dramatic cross like pose - arms outstretched, a swirling tactile mass of searching. Heavy expressive ink marks gives the form a monumental, carved weight conveying tension and emotion. Exploring the human figure as both fragile and sculptural.
