Cosmic Angel (2024) Original Mixed-media Painting by GeGe Hirst

53 x 53 x 3cm (framed) / 50 x 50cm (actual image size)

£850

Part of the Emergence series, Cosmic Angel explores the idea that we are more than the stories we tell ourselves. Layers of colour, texture and expressive mark-making come together to reveal a face suspended between presence and mystery, strength and vulnerability.

Fragments of light emerge from deep blues and vibrant passages of colour, creating a sense of transformation and possibility. The painting reflects my fascination with the unseen aspects of human experience: resilience, hope, and the feeling that there is something within us that cannot be reduced to circumstance alone.

Rather than portraying a specific individual, Cosmic Angel invites personal interpretation, offering space for viewers to connect with their own experiences, memories and emotions.

'Longlisted for the Visual Art Open (VAO) 2025'.
