Original artwork description:

“Cooltide” is an acrylic on canvas painting 70cmsW x100cmsH x3.5cmsD. The painting continues the series of land, sea and sky. It takes its name from a John Martyn song of the same name. The painting is inspired by the light reflected on a beach wet with rain and tide. The intensity of the colour in the painting intends to capture the brightness of light as dawn breaks. Please see the photographs that document this inspirational setting. This isn’t a literal painting. It doesn’t attempt to replicate a ‘scene’, but it does try to capture the atmosphere of an open beach seascape. I try to capture atmosphere as opposed to graphic detail. I see it as an image that celebrates the natural colour that can be seen in our skies early morning or evening twilight time. Colour that is blurred out as the day opens up. I look to artists such as Barbara Rae, Mark Rothko, JMW Turner, the Fauvists and Monet and the Post-Impressionists for inspiration. The painting is shipped in a robust custom made cardboard crate (same as those used to transport large screens). The painting is bubble wrapped to protect the canvas. Further wrapping is made with corrugated card. A wooden frame is placed inside the cardboard crate to preserve the structural strength of the packaging. Each painting is insured to its sale value. Shipping costs within the U.K. take into consideration weight and insurance. U.K. shipping costs for this artwork are £90
