Control (2009) Original Oil Painting by Sarah Ann Mitchell
59 x 41 x 3.5cm / 59 x 41cm (actual image size)
£820
Original artwork description
This is a painting from my Filmic Spaces Series. I became interested in using films screenshots as the basis for paintings. This is from my all time favourite Blade Runner. Here we see the hero Deckard looking rather anxious in the dystopian imagined future. I enjoyed this foray into using a face rather than my usual subject matter of a physical space to explore the psychology of potential danger and the unknown. Harrison Ford's worried green eyes are mirrored by the buttons on the control panel of his vehicle. He is looking for clues as to who can be trusted in his alien world.
