Original artwork description
This painting grew from my memories of Antalya: the ruins, bright Mediterranean light, palms and deep blue sea. I began with sketches and photographs from the trip, then rearranged them into an imagined place rather than painting one real view.
I wanted the ruins to feel playful and lived-in, so I added cats, plants, small pools and colourful details among the columns and fragments. The painting combines familiar architectural forms with unusual colour and scale, creating a space that feels somewhere between a holiday memory and a dream.
