In Combustion Field, the flow of molten wax and shellac evokes a moment of ignition — a transformation where organic forms seem to burst into light. The composition radiates both warmth and tension, balancing chaos and structure, life and decay. Part of the Radiance Series, this painting explores how inner energy manifests through material reactions, allowing color, fire, and wax to merge into a single luminous event.
Created with encaustic wax and shellac burn on an HDF panel, this piece showcases the spontaneous chemistry of molten materials. Layers of beeswax and carnauba wax interact with heat and pigment to produce intricate cellular textures and glowing transparencies. Ideal for collectors of contemporary organic abstraction and mixed-media encaustic art.
Some of my recent encaustic works are painted on HDF panels, which provide a smooth, heat-resistant surface ideal for fine layering.
