• Unframed — ships flat, protected between rigid boards
• Carefully packaged and shipped worldwide via DHL Express
I brought this hydrangea home from Kebun Raya Bali already in full bloom — the botanical garden in the cool mountain village of Bedugul, in the north of the island. Down at sea level where I live hydrangeas don't really survive, but at Bedugul's altitude they grow huge and the blue stays this saturated. I painted it from life in my studio that same week, before the heads started to soften.
Acrylic on thick acid-free art paper, palette knife only. One stroke per cluster of petals, deliberate and visible. The blues are cobalt, ultramarine and a little phthalo, with titanium white softening the edges where each petal catches light. The leaves stand in stiff ridges of viridian and sap green. The background is left soft and sage, with paper showing through in places, so the heavy flower heads have somewhere to breathe.
At 25 × 35 cm this is an intimate piece — a bedside shelf, a reading corner, a small wall by an entryway. The size works for spaces where a large painting would feel loud. The frame in the mockup is for presentation only — the work ships unframed and flat, ready for you to choose your own framing. If you frame it under glass, choose a frame deep enough that the glass doesn't press against the paint surface — the palette knife texture stands above the paper.
