Clay`s Memory 1 (2025) Original Mixed-media Painting by Hussain Habeeb
40 x 120 x 4cm (framed) / 40 x 120cm (actual image size)
£2,273
Original artwork description
“Clay’s Memory 1” continues a body of work focused on memory and the trace it leaves on the human form.
The face is present but unstable. It emerges through layers and begins to dissolve at the same time. This tension reflects how memory holds and erases.
The surface is built with oil, acrylic, and gesso. The material is pushed and reworked, creating a dense texture that carries marks of pressure and time. The skin of the painting feels worn rather than smooth.
This work connects the human figure to earth. The face is not separate from the material. It appears as if formed from it, and is slowly returning to it.
This is not a portrait in the traditional sense. It is a record of presence. Of what remains and what fades.
The vertical format gives it a steady position in space. It works best as a single piece where its surface and depth can be experienced fully.
