Christmas (2024) Original Oil Painting by Natalia Matveeva

This painting was inspired by one of my observations in the days leading up to Christmas. While walking in the countryside, I came across a large barn. Warm light glowed from inside, revealing animals that immediately reminded me of traditional Nativity scenes. Mist, hay bales wrapped in blue plastic, and the golden light spilling from the barn created a striking contrast with the cool tones of the landscape. This quiet, atmospheric moment became the inspiration for the painting.

The work is finished with a protective varnish. The canvas is hand-stretched by the artist onto a wooden stretcher, and the edges are painted to match the background, allowing it to be displayed without a frame.

Its cool blue palette creates a sense of mystery, anticipation, and the quiet magic associated with the Christmas season, inviting the viewer into a peaceful winter scene filled with warmth and wonder.
