change III (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Lander Ver Eecke

40 x 60 x 5cm (unframed)

£551.72

Change III is the third work in my ongoing Change series — a body of work exploring how a single surface can tell two completely different stories depending on where you stand.

Viewed from the left, the surface reveals a fresh, vibrant green — alive and full of energy, like the first days of spring. Move slowly to the right, and the composition transforms entirely: warm burgundy and earthy brown tones emerge, rich and deep, like the last colours of autumn before winter arrives.

This optical transformation is the result of handmade paste applied with a palette knife in a specific directional technique, creating vertical ridges that catch and reflect light differently depending on your viewing angle. The acrylic paint was then sprayed on in layers, allowing the colours to blend and shift across the surface.

The inspiration came from the Hydrangea Pink Lady — a flower that begins its life in bright, fresh green and slowly transitions into deep reds and warm browns as the season changes. It is one of nature's most beautiful and quiet transformations — and one that most people overlook.

This is Earthbound Abstraction — where the seasonal rhythms of nature become texture, colour and emotion.
