Bring elegance, warmth, and timeless craftsmanship into your home with this original hand-pulled reduction linocut print of a cat surrounded by decorative floral motifs. The image measures 30 × 30 cm (11.8 × 11.8 inches) and is printed on premium 35 × 35 cm (13.8 × 13.8 inches) Fabriano 300 gsm paper. This artwork is part of a limited edition of only 23 prints.

Each print is built up from 12 carefully printed layers of Caligo Safe Wash oil-based ink, creating remarkable depth, rich colours, and subtle texture.

Every Print is Unique
Because each colour layer is printed by hand and the linoleum block is carved further after every stage, no two prints are exactly alike. Small variations in colour, ink distribution, and especially in the cat's expressive eyes make every impression a unique work of art.

You can even choose your favourite edition. Simply select an edition number to view an enlarged photograph of that specific print before ordering.
Inspired by Everyday Life
My studio is located in the Dutch countryside, where I work surrounded by the sounds of sheep, horses, and goats. Animals are a constant source of inspiration and joy, which is why they appear so often in my artwork.

The idea for this cat print came from a memorable moment during one of my exhibitions. A six-year-old boy looked around with great curiosity and asked why I hadn't made any cows or cats—his father was a farmer, and he couldn't imagine an exhibition without them. His innocent question made me smile and inspired me to create this cat. Naturally, he received the very first print as a gift.

The decorative design is inspired by the graceful forms and flowing lines of Art Nouveau, particularly the work of William Morris and Alphonse Mucha, giving the print an elegant and timeless character.
Traditional Craftsmanship

Creating this edition took more than 54 hours over a period of two months. The reduction linocut technique is one of the most demanding forms of printmaking. After each colour has been printed, more of the linoleum block is carved away before the next layer is added. Once a section has been removed, it cannot be restored, making every stage permanent. This process requires patience, precision, and careful planning.

On YouTube, you can watch the fascinating moment when I carefully lift the paper from the linoleum block after each printed layer—a traditional craft that still amazes me every time.
