CEFALÙ (Sicily) gained international recognition as one of the filming locations for the Oscar-winning classic Cinema Paradiso.

Its deeper history, however, is equally rich and fascinating, with origins dating back to the 4th century BC, when the city was founded by the Greeks. Over the centuries, Cefalù came under the rule of several civilisations and powers, including the Romans, Byzantines, Normans, and various feudal families. In the mid-19th century, it also played a significant role in the uprisings against Bourbon rule.
