Original artwork description:

I visited Buttermere in July and walked around the lake, remembering the dramatic painting made by Turner with the rainbow. The sky was cloudy so the light changed dramatically and quickly, giving the hillside an other-worldly quality.
I made a detailed underpainting in red and white which shines through in some areas. I glazed and scumble glazed many layers of oil paint, sanding some areas to achieve my desired effect. When it is well lit, the layers beneath shine through and change subtly as the viewer moves.
