Busy Bees (2020) Original Collage by Fiona Plaisted

There has been a significant decline in bees so it is important to remember, now more than ever, the vital role they play in our lives. Bees remind me of happy summer days playing outside and hearing them buzzing in and out of the flowers.

I start the canvas with a rough pencil sketch and then I add the coloured paper before building up the layers with acrylic paint. The last thing I add are the embellishments of thread, beads, buttons and glitter to pick out or highlight certain areas.
