Artwork description
Brutalist III is a digital photomontage inspired by the raw presence of post-war Brutalist architecture and its relationship with the natural world. Layers of photography, distressed textures, and graphic interventions are combined to create an image that feels both archaeological and contemporary, revealing traces of time, weathering, and human occupation.
The work explores the tension between permanence and decay. The imposing concrete structure is softened by surrounding trees and fragmented surfaces, while the concentric circular form introduces a symbolic focal point, suggesting memory, energy, or hidden histories embedded within the urban landscape. Inspired by the sculptural qualities of Brutalist buildings and their ability to evoke both admiration and unease, Brutalist III reflects on the evolving relationship between architecture, nature, and the passage of time.
