These are my own shoes. The brown faux leather loafers I reach for without thinking, the ones that have walked with me through enough days to feel like a part of who I am.
Painting something you love changes how you look at it. Suddenly the gloss of the surface demands attention, the way light pools in the toe, the cold gleam of the gold chain hardware against the warm cognac brown. The cool lavender background was chosen to let that warmth breathe, to give the shoes the space they deserved.
This is a painting about the objects we choose, and what those choices say about us. Small, personal, and entirely real.
