This vase contained branches of thuja, the tree of life, that resembled seaweed. Perhaps they will be placed back in it as an act of renewal. The vase sits in a bathroom, on a marble countertop next to the sink. Behind it is a border of acanthus leaves and ripples like wind or ocean waves. The vase looks like cabbage leaves or oyster shells, even hands forming the vessel that awaits clear, chlorine-free water, perhaps waiting for those thuja branches to say something.
In Spanish, "cabeza en las berzas" (head in the cabbages) means to be with one's mind elsewhere.

Original and unique drawing with pencil, graphite, ink, and acrylic on paper.
Dimensions (width x height): 42x61cm (16.53x24.02")
Year 2026
