Broadway Impressions (2026) Original Oil Painting by Kamil Woj

I painted "Broadway Impressions" completely live and on location during the Broadway Arts Festival on June 7, 2026. Standing right there in the heart of the Cotswolds, my goal was to capture the immediate, fleeting magic of the English summer sun.
This 80x60 cm oil on canvas was created using the "alla prima" (wet-on-wet) technique. I wanted to freeze that specific moment: the intense dappled light breaking through the heavy canopy of the trees, illuminating the grass and the figure resting quietly on the bench. In the background, you can see the iconic, honey-coloured stone cottages that make Broadway so special.
I applied the paint thickly and rhythmically, without hesitation or second takes, transferring the raw energy of the live festival directly onto the canvas.
When you look at this piece, I want you to feel the warmth of that sun and the breeze in the trees exactly as I felt it that day.
