Break at work (2017) Original Oil Painting by Kujbus Janos

🔷 STORY
In "Break at work," I pay a powerful, heartfelt tribute to the silent strength of manual laborers who sustain our society through honest, grueling work. I wanted to capture that brief, heavy moment of pause when the physical exhaustion of demanding labor temporarily stops. By setting the scene between a traditional church and a sterile, modern office block under an open sky, I reflect on the changing nature of work and endurance across generations. The figures carry a raw, thoughtful gravity, their expressions filled with a quiet dignity and inner fatigue. For me, this painting honors those who quietly push themselves to the absolute limit of their physical capabilities, braving the elements to build the world we live in, making life easier for the rest of us.
