This painting is my attempt to hold onto something that can’t really be held. It’s that feeling of childhood summers that seemed to stretch forever, when the days were long, wild and full of colour. Running through gardens, staying outside until the light faded, not thinking about time at all.
There’s a kind of joy in those memories that feels almost too big, like it might spill over. That’s what I wanted to capture here. The lushness, the movement, the slightly untamed beauty of it all, layered with splashes and drips that feel like moments you can’t quite catch.
It’s playful and full of life, but there’s also that quiet ache underneath. The awareness that those days don’t last, and how much they meant.
For me, this piece is about love, memory and that overwhelming feeling of summer that stays with you long after it’s gone.
