This freehand brush painting (or sumie) features a white fox sleeping under a tree of plum blossoms. The plum blossoms are one of the most distinctive flowers in the oriental painting, which is part of the Four Gentleman Plants. They suggest life and energy, a spirit that cannot be crushed by harsh winter or thick snow. The white fox is an auspicious sign, they are bringers of happiness and good fortune.

The title is a poem sentence, clarifying the meaning of the artwork: the Spring is just around the corner!
