Between Storm and Sand Photograph by Basel Almisshal

A lone camel crosses an immense plain of pale sand while a storm gathers over the mountains behind it, dark cloud pressing down on sunlit rock. The scale is the subject: one animal, one desert, one weather system, held in a single balanced frame.

I composed the image around that tension between stillness and threat, the calm of the desert floor against the drama building above the ridge. It belongs to my ongoing landscape work across the Arabian Peninsula, where emptiness is never empty; it is structure, light, and time made visible.
