Original artwork description
"Between Selves" explores the experience of inner duality, the space between different versions of identity that coexist within one body. The frontal female figure is visually divided by color and line, suggesting a psychological threshold rather than a physical separation.
Bold black contour anchors the composition, holding together fluid planes of cool blue, graphite grey and soft violet. Vibrant accents of green, yellow and red introduce tension and vitality, while organic forms emerging at the base of the figure evoke growth, intrusion, or inner transformation.
The fragmented face becomes the emotional center of the work, calm yet unsettled, present yet shifting. The painting reflects the complexity of self-perception in a contemporary world where identity is layered, unstable, and constantly renegotiated.
