Rising from the reddish-gold wood of the yew tree is a sculpture whose form defies any single, definitive interpretation. Combining organic growth with geometric cuts, the object appears both archaic and graceful. Its inner surfaces—partially charred yet polished with wax—create a powerful contrast with the living wood, which seems to tell a story of transformation: a tale of fire as a force that is simultaneously destructive and purifying.
For centuries, the yew has been revered as a mystical tree. In many cultures, it symbolizes immortality, transition, and the connection between the visible and hidden worlds. Its natural grain resembles a web of ancient symbols, while the blackened areas evoke shadows, memories, and the unseen.
The open, bowl-like hollow at the top serves as an altar for thoughts or quiet rituals. Depending on the viewing angle, the sculpture reveals new silhouettes and hidden forms, ensuring it can never be fully deciphered.
