"Beneath the Calm" began with swirling lines of color that were painted freely with a brush, flowing across the canvas like wind or water. I then layered white paint over the surface with a palette knife, partially obscuring what was underneath. The result is a textured landscape of movement just below the surface. Hints of blues, purples, yellows, and pinks break through the white veil, giving the piece both energy and calm. Beneath the Calm is a quiet kind of bold — expressive, yet serene.
