Becoming rivers (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Francesca Borgo

25 x 25 x 3cm (unframed) / 25 x 25cm (actual image size)

£225.09

I have always been fascinated by the way rivers find their course. They move around obstacles, gather water from different sources and gradually become something larger than where they began.

Becoming rivers grew from this observation, but also from the thought that our lives follow a similar process. We are shaped by the people we meet, the experiences we carry and the changes we never entirely anticipate.

The flowing lines of the painting approach, merge and separate across a luminous surface. I used acrylic, natural sand and mineral pigments to create delicate layers of texture, allowing silver and warm golden reflections to interact with darker contours.

As the light changes, different movements become visible, giving the painting a sense of depth and continuous transformation.

For me, this small circular artwork is about finding our own direction while remaining connected to everything that has helped shape us.
