Becoming III (2026) Original Watercolour by Annett Coumont
20.5 x 31 x 0.2cm (unframed) / 20.5 x 31cm (actual image size)
£303.35
Original artwork description
This watercolor evokes the moment of a quiet, almost weightless floral explosion. The central blossom appears to expand like a supernova, while fine specks of color and buds create a sense of movement reminiscent of scattering stardust—or blossom dust.
I have employed soft transitions and dissolved contours here, lending the work a dreamlike, almost ethereal quality—as if the scene existed somewhere between reality and suspension. Light, meanwhile, seems to radiate outward from the blossom itself.
Thus, the cherry blossom is not merely depicted, but becomes palpable as energy, as a new beginning, and as a gentle ascent into the light.
This work is Study III of my three-part series on cherry blossoms.
