The view is on the beach capturing the light in the afternoon/evening. Painted in Gouache where I managed to create a colourful and interesting depiction of a complex setting. The swimmers in silhouette, they grey sky and reflected blue wet beach all come together to deliver the atmoshere. I really like painting en-plein-air as it is then possible to create a freshness that is not possible from a photograph. This painting is shown straightened and uncropped too to show the framing look.
