Original artwork description
My Best Life: an impromptu plan' is an opulent, dreamlike interior rendered in richly textured acrylics. The painting opens into a grand salon bathed in warm, burnished orange and antique gold, where classical luxury meets lived-in warmth.
In the foreground, a stately black and ivory settee sits invitingly empty, adorned with soft cushions and a low table with fresh florals, flanked by a sculptural torchère and a glowing table lamp. The walls shimmer with vertical gold striations, crystal chandeliers, and curated art objects - a classical bust on a crimson bombe chest and a large, gilded framed painting of three silhouetted women in abstract blues and greens, a painting within a painting that hints at memory, friendship and presence.
Through a grand arched doorway, the eye is drawn into a second, more intimate world. A golden, patterned fireside room glows with the light of a crackling hearth. There, four figures are caught in a moment of easy, unscripted connection - two seated close together, one woman listening intently, and a man standing, and conversing. It is the impromptu plan of the title: not the grand decor, but the spontaneous warmth of people coming together.
Painted with layered impasto, distressed gold textures and a luminous palette of ochre, burnt sienna, charcoal and emerald, the work explores the central theme of the 'My Best Life' collection - that true luxury is not just in opulent spaces, but in the soulful, unplanned moments of joy, hospitality and togetherness that make a house a home. The empty sofa in the foreground is an invitation for the viewer to step inside.
