Autumn reflection (2025) Original Oil Painting by Natalia Slushaieva

In this painting, I wanted to capture not a specific landscape, but the feeling of autumn itself — that brief moment when nature glows with warmth before the arrival of winter.

Using expressive palette-knife strokes and rich layers of color, I combined vibrant oranges, golds, deep blues, and earthy tones to evoke reflections on water and the changing light of the season. Accents of imitation gold leaf were incorporated into the composition to enhance its luminosity and create subtle shifts in appearance as the light moves across the surface.

I am drawn to the balance between energy and stillness in nature, and this work reflects that contrast through bold textures and peaceful open spaces. Rather than describing a particular place, the painting invites the viewer to connect with their own memories and emotions associated with autumn.
