August 24 (2026) Original Mixed-media Painting by lucia dibi
60 x 80 x 2cm (unframed)
£691.72
Original artwork description
Agosto 24 begins with a photograph taken in the summer of 2024: a Milanese apartment building entrance, with an intercom, iron gate and marble threshold. Cold greys and blues, closed geometries.
The digital phase dismantles that scene and reassembles it: the vertical lines of the gate become striped bands, the cold tones give way to a warm palette built deliberately, forest green, pink, lilac, ochre. Color is the second composition of the work, the one I spend the most time on: intuitive in its conception, considered in its execution.
I kept a single cold note, the blue in the lower left, and closed the wall on the right. It is not a detail: it is the tension that prevents the painting from sliding into illustrative harmony. A deliberate dissonant note that holds everything in unstable equilibrium.
Painted with acrylics and sand on canvas, the surface carries a materiality that works against the geometric clarity of the composition.
The painting is mounted on canvas, ready to hang, and comes with a certificate of authenticity
