Part of an ongoing series exploring the relationship between horizon, atmosphere, and landscape space.

This original oil painting investigates light, atmosphere, and perception through a reduced landscape language. Built with expressive palette knife marks and layered oil paint, it explores the act of drawing light out from restrained, dark grounds.

A diagonal shaft of white and amber light cuts across the water's surface, pulling warmth and luminosity from deep teal and slate grounds. Scattered gold flecks move through sky and water alike, connecting the two registers through a shared pulse of light. The upper sky builds in layered masses of grey, green, and cream, while the dark horizon anchors the composition in quiet tension.

Rather than depicting a specific location, the painting explores landscape as a space shaped by light, weather, and time. Rich textures reveal new details with sustained observation.
