Ascension (2026) Original Oil Painting by Jennie Smallenbroek

Ascension is a tribute to the soul’s upward journey—a quiet moment of surrender, carried by light.

I created this painting from my deep connection with angelic energy. For many years, I have worked intuitively with the gentle yet powerful presence of angels. To me, they represent protection, guidance and hope, while reminding us of who we are at our core: beings of light.

The figure appears not so much to fly as to float effortlessly between worlds. Her outstretched wings form a protective embrace, while shimmering golden accents dance across the painting like tiny stars. Together, they heighten the sense of peace, elevation and inner stillness.

The background flows through soft shades of green, turquoise and gold—colours associated with healing, the heart and spiritual growth. Her serene posture and peaceful expression suggest a quiet moment of listening to an inner calling, inviting the viewer to pause, reflect and reconnect with their own inner light.

Ascension can bring a sense of tranquillity, hope and protection to a room. It offers a gentle reminder that, even during life’s most uncertain moments, we are never truly alone.
