Original artwork description:

This piece at first glance appears as an homage to the fierce energy of coal: fuel of the industrial revolution. But the miner's pick is rusted and broken. On it sits a butterfly, vulnerable in the full roar of the flames. What once was thought the golden age of coal is gone. In its place: closed pits, unemployment, and looming over us all the environmental catastrophe of the climate crisis.

Original oil painting on canvas board.
