Original artwork description
Losing both my parents barely six months apart was the catalyst for my figurative/bird series. Birds began appearing in my work during and after my Mum’s harrowing battle with MND and of these, the owl seems to be more prevalent – perhaps because it is seen as a harbinger of death. However as time begins to blunt the pain, I prefer to see the owl as a custodian of the wisdom required to navigate my grief.
