I wanted to capture the fleeting moment when the winter sun ignites the mountain summit while the valley below remains immersed in cool blue-gray shadow. The glowing cliff, painted in intense oranges and golden yellows, becomes a dramatic contrast to the snow-covered forest and icy water. I simplified the mountain into broad shapes and used direct, expressive brushwork to suggest snow, trees, and reflections. The vivid red reflected in the water connects the foreground to the illuminated peak, making the brief alpenglow the visual and emotional heart of the painting.
