Abundance

Abundance is an original oil painting exploring the richness, strength and sensuality of the human form.

The figure is built through expressive brushwork, softened edges and layered tonal contrasts, allowing the body to move between definition and abstraction. Rather than presenting the figure as something static, I wanted the painting to feel alive — full of presence, movement and emotional weight.

The title Abundance reflects a sense of fullness: of form, emotion, confidence and physical presence. There is a generosity to the figure, but also vulnerability, creating a tension that sits at the heart of much of my figurative work.

Painted directly onto a deep block canvas, the surface retains the evidence of the painting process — visible brushwork, shifting tones and areas where the image appears to emerge gradually from the surrounding space.

For me, the work is ultimately about accepting and celebrating the body not as something idealised, but as something expressive, powerful and human.
