Original artwork description
I painted this 24 x 18 inch scene as a kind of peaceful place you can escape into. I liked the idea of soft rolling hills leading your eye through the painting, with little cottages dotted around and the river winding its way down to the sea.
There are small details scattered throughout—a girl reading and her Grandmother standing nearby, sheep grazing, and a Highland cow standing quietly by the water. In the distance, I added a steam train passing along the coast, just to give it that sense of movement and a hint of travel.
It’s really about creating a calm, colourful scene that feels simple and uplifting, somewhere you can spend a bit of time looking and noticing new things. This is an oil on canvas painting that measures 24 inches by 18 inches.
