A Cosy Winter Evening (2017) Original Oil Painting by Liubov Samoilova

Fire has a special way of making us feel safe, calm and at home. Watching the flames can be almost meditative, bringing warmth and comfort even on the coldest winter evening.
This small original oil painting on canvas is a little window into a cosy world. It brings back memories of my youth, when friends gathered in a country house on New Year's Eve, near the edge of a forest. We cooked together, decorated a Christmas tree outdoors, sang to the guitar and danced until morning. Those simple, joyful moments have stayed with me ever since.
Perhaps you imagine something different: a romantic winter evening with your loved one. After a walk through a snowy forest, you return to your country cottage, take off your boots and settle beside the fireplace with a glass of mulled wine. The fire crackles, the room glows with warm colours, and the world outside grows quiet.
This original miniature oil painting captures that feeling of warmth, intimacy and festive nostalgia. It is a charming accent for a cosy living room, country cottage or rustic interior. Small enough to display on a shelf or even as part of a festive table setting, it also makes a thoughtful and unusual Christmas or New Year gift.
If you love this subject but would prefer a larger fireplace painting, please feel free to contact me. I would be delighted to discuss a commission.
