A Boy Becomes a Man (1999) Lithograph by Dean Anthony Brink
43.81 x 32.38cm (unframed) / 38.1 x 30.48cm (actual image size)
£756.67
Artwork description
This is one of three very limited-edition lithographs from 1999, after my mother and local artist, Antje Kaiser, had passed away. I used her name, signing them D. Kaiser.
There is foxing on the edges in some of the prints. This one is not numbered, but an A/P without having written it. This one is in the best condition of the three, and was exhibited long ago in a café on Capitol Hill in Seattle.
A note on the influence of Rauschenberg: I had been influenced by him and made these using his transfer techniques on lithograph stones and aluminum sheets (though I can't remember which derives from which).
The themes reflect my turbulent life then, losing my mother, estranged from my father, recently divorced, and torn between two men in my life.
Materials used:
