My artistic process is probably not so different from most artists. I tend to work in spurts. I usually have 4 to 6 paintings in production. I try to complete one to two very strong pieces a week. I try to spend time everyday working on my techniques, challenging myself and studying art. I paint every day. I try to push myself to be better every day. I am a strong believer in deliberate practice and I try to spend at least 3 to 4 hours a day creating. The rest as it turns out is the business of art, marketing, sales, shipping, following up and answering emails. Some day’s art is the easy part.I also take time to switch between mediums. During my off time for oil paintings I usually work with my watercolor fly fishing paintings, creating jewelry or trying something new with large canvases and Acrylics. I work mainly in oils because I love the workability they give me. They allow me to blend and re-blend colors for an extended time. My inspiration comes for nature I love landscapes. I enjoy browsing the earth pictures on Reddit or on Google + in search of the ones that inspire me. I then will contact the photographer and more often than not they are flattered to allow me paint their image. I have painted several photographs by photographer Trey Ratcliff. I also draw inspiration for the human from, painting portraits and figures.
