Hello, my name is Gitana, but as an artist I use the nickname Gitti, because it has fond and happy memories associated with it. Acceptance plays a huge role in my works. I often find myself struggling to accept certain memories, emotions, reactions, fears and desires. This all washes away when I paint, finding myself accepting everything that comes in the process.
I love painting people, often using strong colours, because I want to feel strong emotions, adding strange objects or abstract shapes, even if it is not to others' usual taste, therefore creating unusual combinations, because I don't want to limit myself to these rules. Painting makes me feel confident, fulfilled and alive, because I accept and let myself be.
I hold First class Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons.) UEL, London
Completed a 2 years long Fine Art foundation course at City Lit, London
Had a year long private painting tuition at a London based professional artist studio
