  • Biography
    Emma Evans Freke is a full time artist and screen-printer, living and working in the heart of East Sussex. She is the founder and designer of Blackbird House, a creative design label which exhibits her wildlife and country life inspired prints.

    Packed with colour, and each individually hand printed, Emma’s prints tell the story of her life living in the rural countryside. From the doorstep of her studio, Emma’s inspiration is gathered from the natural abundance around her. Her dog Nettle, her chickens and garden take her on an ever evolving seasonal journey, as she traces and tracks the bursting hedgerows and woodlands, capturing these fleeting encounters through brightly printed silhouettes.  

    Recent clients who have commissioned design work include Ikea, ArtPress and The Wildcard Company.

    Event: First Time Open Studio

    Dates: 24 Aug 2016 - 31 Aug 2016

    Venue: Blackbird House Open studio, Coopers Hatch FarmHouse, Harveys Lane, Ringmer, Lewes, East Sussex BN8 5AE

    I am opening up my home/studio for one week as part of ArtWave 2016 East Sussex. I will be exhibiting prints and cards as well as launching my new range of Homeware-brightly coloured linens, handmade into cushions, lampshades and bedspreads, printed with a flight of gold swallows. I will be offering coffee/brownies and light lunches in the garden surrounded by chickens and doves and open Sussex countryside. Please do come and find me!
