About Arlene Marks

  • Biography
Arlene Marks is a painter from Northern Ireland and graduated from the University of Ulster in Belfast, specialising in Illustration.

Creating Artwork is just something I must do, like eating, listening to music or talking to people. I have never known a life when I haven't been drawing, taking notes of scenes or colour combinations. Inspiration is everywhere and when you surround yourself with other like minded artists, well, that just increases the passion and improves your quality of work.

Arlene's abstract paintings were orginally inspired by bokeh photography, but they have developed much more now. The circles provide a familiar pattern and repetition that many of us can relate to in our everyday lives.
Arlene's choice of soft pastel shades and complimentary colours create a floating dream-like quality to many of her paintings.
These painting are not only made up of many layers, but interesting textures too.
