About Alla Semenova

  • Biography
I turned to painting after 20 years of working as an accountant. Honestly, I have been painting for as long as I can remember. Although, after I realized that painting could not only be a way to spend time but also be a remedy from my inner struggles, I decided to completely alternate my life and do painting full-time.

I like to use different materials to paint: oil, charcoal, and pastel. However, watercolors have a special place in my heart. I love them for the drive, the unpredictability, and the necessity to plan out your actions in the process of painting. You never know what awaits you in the end. And if you get a proper result – you feel an amazing euphoria! The array of methods you can use with watercolors allows you to depict different parts of reality: from the tender shades of dawn and the bright colors of flowers to the rigidness of rocks and the fragileness of glass.

Currently, I am working in a realistic style. In my works, I try to catch an image and then feel its rhythm.

Argentine tango, literature, music, the nature of my homeland, people’s faces, memories – these are the things that inspire me. A fierce desire to paint it the way I feel – drives me forward to improve my technique by studying great artists.
Painting keeps me breathing. Painting makes me feel alive. Painting is what I get from life and then give it back.
