About Alla Semenova

Biography

After two decades of working as an accountant, I completely changed my path and chose painting as my full-time calling. But in truth, art has always been with me — since childhood, it has been both a refuge and a source of energy.

Watercolour holds a special place in my heart. I love its spontaneity and fragility, its demand for precision and courage. It mirrors life: unpredictable, emotional, yet capable of moments of pure clarity. Through it, I capture the softness of morning light, the vividness of flowers, the weight of stone, and the delicacy of glass.

I also work with pastel, charcoal, and oil — always exploring how materials speak differently to emotion. My style is grounded in realism, but for me, realism is not just accuracy — it’s rhythm, resonance, the internal pulse of an image.

My inspiration comes from Argentine tango, music, literature, the nature of my homeland, the expressive faces of people, and fleeting memories. I strive to paint not just what I see, but what I feel — and that passion drives me to study constantly and grow through the language of great artists.

Painting is freedom — freedom from thought, freedom from expectation. It's a quiet dialogue with the world around me. Each work I create is a moment of that connection, shared.
