For me, the canvas is tightly bound to sound. Music is never just background noise in my studio; it is a vital catalyst that shapes the emotional architecture of a painting.

The creation of "Wild Flowers. Lilies" was a slow, meditative journey that spanned nearly two years. I began painting these lilies from life, directly in the vibrant chaos of my garden, before moving the large canvas into the quiet of the studio to complete it. It was a process of coming and going—setting the piece aside for months and returning only when I felt a deep readiness to speak with it again.

Throughout this two-year dialogue, the studio was filled with the sounds of Donovan and The Mamas & the Papas. There is a specific, ethereal aura in the vocals of Donovan and Mama Cass—a sonic warmth that seems to suspend time. Their voices created the exact sanctuary of harmony and peace needed to distill the fragile, silent essence of nature onto the canvas.

Visually, the piece balances the wild, explosive energy of the lilies with a profound sense of nocturnal stillness. Under a deep indigo sky and a low-hanging orange moon, a tiny, solitary house rests on the distant horizon. This structure serves as a quiet metaphor for my own studio—a small haven of warmth and creation enveloped by the vast, mysterious beauty of the natural world.
