Venus (2021) Original Mixed-media Painting by Phyllis Mahon

Asleep to happily dream, this lady in blue rests in a pastoral scene.
The tree radiates above her sleeping head, representing her blossoming thoughts and desires.
Venus is shining high in the sky, and the tranquil landscape recedes, lit only by the light of this bright planet and a few other small stars.

Painted in acrylic washes on wooden panel, using my favourite colours in a very limited palette to suggest the still of the night:
Phthalo Blue (Green shade), White, a touch of Burnt Sienna and then a lot of definition by 3B graphite.
The painting has then been given three coats of Archival Gloss spray.

Ready to hang.
It is available framed in a simple but beautifully made tray frame in black.
Just under 12 x 10"
