Unbridled (2019) Original Watercolour by Oliver Plehn

28 x 21 x 0.1cm (unframed)

£166.72

This original watercolour and ink drawing captures a red horse full of energy and movement. Expressive lines and warm washes of colour convey its strength, vitality and untamed spirit. Rather than aiming for photographic realism, the work focuses on the animal’s character and the feeling of movement.

An original artwork on paper, created with watercolour and ink.

The inspiration for this work lies in the horse’s powerful presence and natural energy. I wanted to capture more than its physical appearance: the sense of freedom and vitality that makes this animal so compelling.

I combined watercolour and ink to create a balance between fluidity and expressive definition. The loose washes of colour give the horse a sense of life, while the spontaneous lines emphasise its form and movement.

What makes this piece special is its directness and energy. The drawing does not attempt to describe every detail but instead seeks to convey the character of the animal through a few expressive gestures.
