"Transparency" was inspired by the artist's deep connection to Rocky Mountain National Park in her home state of Colorado. This was painted during the longest government shutdown in history. The National Parks were one of the many entities affected by the lack of funding during this period. The same day this painting was finished, the shutdown ended.
Rachel took on the challenge of painting water that has both transparent and reflective elements. Concentrating on color and value at a new level was exciting and educational during this process.
The end result gives a sense of calm and reverence to nature, knowing that it preservers far beyond people and politics.
